The 5 days Maasai mara and Lake Nakuru national park safari takes you to the most beautiful soda lake in the Great Rift Valley where you will be able to see flamingoes, and you will be able to see both black and white rhinos plus leopards, lions, and Rothschild giraffes. On this safari you will cross the Great Rift Valley floor to Masai Mara Reserve which is one of the greatest reserves in Africa for animal viewing, there you will witness the epic wildebeest migration.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to a hotel
On the first day of your safari, a guide/driver will pick you up from the airport and transfer you to your hotel in Nairobi where you will check in and rest. If you need to do some shopping you may inform your guide who will take you to some shopping malls around the city and you may purchase anything you may need.
Day 2: Transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park
On the second day of your safari, after having breakfast you will check out of your hotel and meet up with your guide/driver who will transfer you to Lake Nakuru National Park, this park is located in the northwestern part and it takes about a 3 hours’ drive to get there. Upon arrival, you will check in your hotel, have lunch, and later embark on a game drive around Lake Nakuru where you will be able to see beautiful flamingos and other bird species.
During the game drive you will be able to see other wild life species like buffaloes, zebras, rhinos, gazelles, impalas, lions, hyenas, monkeys and many more. After the game drive you will transfer back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Masai Mara Game reserve
After having breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and transfer to Masai Mara Reserve which is Kenya’s jewel for wildlife viewing. It is well known for its annual wildebeest migration that attracts thousands of travelers all over the globe. The journey will take about 4 hours and upon arrival, you will check in your hotel, have lunch, and relaxation. Later you may visit a masaai village for a cultural encounter where you will get to witness how the locals live their day-to-day lives. You will interact with the locals and learn about their traditions and norms, later you will transfer back to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4: Game drive in Masai Mara Reserve
After breakfast you will be led by your guide to the vast plains of Masaai Mara where you will have amazing encounters with the big 5, if it is the season for the annual wildebeest migration you will have the greatest encounter of a lifetime where you will witness thousands of wildebeests and zebras cross the Mara river, it is a lifetime experience as you watch these animals fight for their life versus the crocodiles and other predators.
On this day you will have a bush lunch as the game drive will take a full day, after the game drive you will transfer back to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Transfer back to Nairobi
After having breakfast you will check out of the hotel and transfer back to Nairobi, your guide/ driver will drop you off at the airport or a hotel depending on your schedule and that will mark the end of your 5-day safari.
