Quad biking is a fast-paced adrenaline sport and one of the most adventurous ways to explore some remote areas. Travelers may visit communities, forests, plantations, villages, or parks in Uganda using the quad bikes. Visitors who do not prefer nature walks usually opt for quad biking since it is not very limited. Prior experience is not required for one to participate in this amazing activity. There is always training and guidance provided by experienced and trained guides or operators.
Quad biking costs between $ 25 to $150 depending on the route, hours, and place where you have visited. It is a great activity for family and friends depending on the age as most facilities providing this activity have different categories for riders. Depending on the level of experience, they usually offer rides for beginners, experts, and children.
Quad biking can be done all year long however the best time to have a fun experience is during rainy seasons. There is mud and most areas are slippery making the activity exciting and there is always more to see during the rainy season. Always be cautious when riding not to throw mud at other riders’ faces.
Lake Mburo National Park is the only national park in Uganda that offers a quad biking experience due to the absence of the most dangerous animals. It is strategically located on the Mbarara – Masaka high way. During the bike rides travelers enjoy amazing views of wildlife species like Impalas, giraffes, zebras, and birds among as you go through savannah plains of the park.
The quad bikes also known as all terrain vehicles (ATVs) are easy to ride and have effective silencers to reduce the noise that can scare away wildlife. They are exceedingly wide and have low-pressure tyres to exert less impact on the trails/paths. Visitors can use either the Ankole guided quad biking trail which lasts about 3 hours or the Eland guided quad biking trail which takes about 2 hours. In addition there is Ruroko guided quad biking trail which lasts about 4 hours.

Some of the places in Jinja to find quad biking experience include; All Terrain Adventures situated at the main gate of Bujagali Falls. Kibirwa village safari which takes you to ride along the banks of the river Nile. Explore safari takes you downstream of the Nile from Bujagali via the river bank, through farmland, forest, and small villages. River Nile safari gives you more challenging routes to explore farms, forests, and villages. ItandaFalls safari allows you to access the world’s longest river grade 5 waterfalls.
Extreme Adventure Park is the largest adventure park in Uganda situated in Busika on Musiniro road. It is a great destination for quad biking and for this activity to be fun you should travel as a group or family. Quad biking is categorized on time, some rides go for 20 minutes, one hour, and two hours. Prior booking is required and offers other fun activities for travelers like go-karting, sky diving, and swimming among others.
Kapeka Shooting Range is located in Nakaseke district and offers quad biking experience. It is however commonly known for guided shooting using pistols and ammunition. Other activities like horse riding and quad biking can be fun to engage in after the shooting using various weapons.
Ssese Island consists of 84 islands and is a perfect place to go for quad biking experience. It is a beautiful place for weekend getaways, honeymoons, and holiday destinations located in the northwestern part of Lake Victoria. The most visited and developed island is Kalangala island which has most hotels and business centres. Quad biking can be experienced on this island depending on the hotel you book for your overstay. Most hotels like Brovad Sand Lodge, Ssese Islands Beach Hotel, and Victoria Forest Resort among others offer quad biking experience. Travelers are able to explore palm plantations, forests, and villages.
