8 Days Kenya Wildlife Safari

The 8-day Kenya wildlife safari takes you to have amazing encounters with wildlife species where you will see Africa’s big 5, cross the floor of the Great Rift Valley and you will be able to see different species of birds. This safari will take you to Masai Mara Reserve to witness the annual great migration (seasonal), see flamingoes at Lake Nakuru, and enjoy amazing views of the savannah plains in Samburu National Park, Aberdares National Park, and sight Kilimanjaro the roof of Africa in Amboseli national park.

Detailed Itinerary 

Day 1: Transfer to Amboseli National Park

On the first day of your safari, your guide/driver will pick you up from your location either a hotel or airport, and embark on a 3 to 4 hours journey to Amboseli National Park which is well known for huge herds of big tusked elephants and beautiful views of Mountain Kilimanjaro. Upon arrival, you will check in at the lodge, and you may have an evening short game drive, after which you return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Morning game drive and transfer to Aberdares National Park

After having breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and embark on a morning game drive in Amboseli National Park where you will get an opportunity to see animals that you might have missed out the previous day since most animals are active during the day. After the game drive you will leave for Aberdares National park which is 6 hours away, it will be a rewarding long journey as you will see amazing geographical features on the way. Upon arrival you will check in your lodge, relax have dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Game drive and exploring Aberdares National Park

After having breakfast you will have a game drive where you will get to see animals like black rhinos, elephants, baboons, buffaloes, hyenas, leopards, and many more. After the game drive you will head back to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. You will later go for a hike or visit the waterfalls or visit the Maasai village it will all depend on what you prefer to do in the afternoon. You will have dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer to Samburu National Park

Wake up for an early morning breakfast, check out of the lodge, and transfer to Samburu National Park where you will lead north past Mount Kenya which is the second tallest mountain in Africa, this journey will take about 3 to 4 hours. Upon arrival, you will check in your hotel and have lunch. After having lunch you will go for a game drive where you will get to experience the semi-arid environment, you will get to see rare species like gerenuks, reticulated giraffes, Somali ostriches, grevy’s zebras, and the beisa oryx. After the game drive you will head back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park

After breakfast you check out of the lodge and embark on 5 hours journey to Lake Nakuru National park, you will have a stopover to view the Great Rift Valley escarpments and floor, you will see the long stretch that runs for about 7000km from Lebanon to Mozambique, it is one of the greatest features to see on this safari. Upon arrival you will check in your lodge, refresh and have lunch.

After having lunch you will transfer to Lake Nakuru which is famous for having a large population of flamingoes. You will see birds and other species like hippos, rothschild girrafes, black and white rhinos among others. You will later transfer back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Transfer to Masai Mara Reserve

Wake up for an early morning breakfast, check out of the lodge and embark on a journey to masai mara reserve which is the most visited park in kenya, it offers the greatest game views and is popularly known for the great migration and has exceptional populations of lions, cheetahs , elephants and leopards among others. Upon arrival you will check into your hotel, refresh have lunch and relax. Later in the evening you will go for an evening game drive where you get to see some predators and nocturnal which are active at this time. You will get to witness how they hunt, after which you will transfer back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Game drive and cultural encounter

On the seventh day of your safari, you will have breakfast and later head on to have a morning game drive where you will get an opportunity to see animals that you might have missed out the previous day. After the game drive you will head back to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. After having lunch and relaxation, you will visit a Maasai village for a cultural encounter where you will get to learn the day-to-day lives of the locals, you get to enjoy traditional dances and participate in other activities like milking cows and many more. You will then head back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 8: Transfer to Nairobi

On the last day of your safari, you will have breakfast check out of the lodge, and embark on a journey back to Nairobi. Your guide/driver will drop you at the airport or hotel depending on your schedule and that will mark the end of your safari.
