Nature walks and hiking in Queen Elizabeth National Park are some of the greatest forms of exploring the park. This allows travelers to see a wide range of species up close in their natural habitat. Nature walk along the Ishasha River

Ishasha River is located in the southern part of the park in the Ishasha sector which is well known for harbouring tree-climbing lions. This guided walk takes you to see animals like buffaloes, elephants, birds, and the tree climbing lions among others.

Nature walk in Maramagambo forest

Maramagambo Forest is a dense tropical forest within the southern part of the park. It is home to a wide range of flora and fauna, including primates like chimpanzees and baboons. Guided nature walks through the forest allow visitors to explore its rich biodiversity, learn about medicinal plants, and possibly encounter primates like blue monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys among others, and other wildlife species.

Nature walks in Kyambura gorge

Kyambura Gorge is a unique ecosystem within Queen Elizabeth National Park, characterized by steep cliffs and dense vegetation. It is also known as the valley of apes since it harbors several primates like chimpanzees, black and white colobus monkeys among others. Within the gorge mammals, butter flies, tree species, plants and birds can be seen during the nature walks. Guided chimpanzee trekking tours are available here, offering visitors the chance to track habituated chimpanzee groups and observe them in their natural habitat.

The best time to go for nature walks in Queen Elizabeth National Park

Nature walks in Queen Elizabeth national Park can be done throughout the year however, the best time is during dry season which takes place from June to September and December to February. This these months there is little or no rainfall in the park therefore trails are dry and passable making the walks easy. Additionally, during dry season it is easier to view animals since the grass is short and there is less thicket.
