3 Days Chimpanzee trekking

The 3 days chimpanzee tracking tour takes you to Kibale National Park which is the primate capital of the world, it is home to 13 primates including the chimpanzees. The park is located in south western part of Uganda and consists of mainly tropical rain forest with thick woodland and savannah. Chimpanzee tracking is one of the best activities to do while visiting Uganda.

NOTE: This safari has an option for chimpanzee habituation which is great for researchers since you will be spending more time with the chimpanzees compared to trekking.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale National Park

One the first day of your safari, a guide or driver will pick you from Entebbe Airport or hotel and start on 4 to 5 hours’ to Kibale National Park. You will have a stopover in Fort Portal town where you will have lunch. You will visit places like Tooro Kingdom and Amabere ga nyina mwiru’ caves. You will then transfer to your lodge check in, have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking or chimpanzee habituation experience

After breakfast you will head to the park headquarters where you will be given guidelines to follow. Kibale forest is a 766 square kilometer forest where you will be able to track chimpanzees on foot. You will also be able to see other primates like red tailed monkeys, black and white Columbus monkeys, butterflies. The guide will help you to locate the chimps and you will witness how they live their day to day lives as they feed, play and communicate to one another. After chimp tracking, you will have you lunch and then proceed to Bigodi wetland for a nature walk. After a nature walk transfer back to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 3: Transfer to Entebbe Airport or Kampala

After breakfast you will check out your hotel and start your journey back to Entebbe Airport or Kampala depending on your schedule.
