This 5-day safari takes you to Queen Elizabeth National Park and Kibale National Park. You will be able to have amazing encounters with chimpanzees which are our closest cousins since they share 98.7% DNA with humans. You will also have a game drive, boat cruise and enjoy sightseeing of crater lakes and ranges of Mount Rwenzori which has the third highest peak in Africa.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Kibale National Park
On the first day of your safari, a guide or driver will pick you up from Entebbe Airport or your hotel and start on a 4 to 5-hour journey to Kibale National Park. You will have a stopover in Fort Portal town where you will have lunch. You will visit places like Tooro Kingdom and Amabere ga nyina mwiru’ caves. You will then transfer to your lodge check in, have dinner, and overnight stay.
Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking experience
After breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters where you will be given guidelines to follow. Kibale Forest is a 766 square kilometer forest where you will be able to track chimpanzees on foot. You will also be able to see other primates like red-tailed monkeys, black and white Columbus monkeys, and butterflies. The guide will help you to locate the chimps and you will witness how they live their day-to-day lives as they feed, play, and communicate with one another. After chimp tracking, you will have your lunch and then proceed to Bigodi Wetland for a nature walk. After a nature walk transfer back to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Day three takes you to Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will be able to have magnificent views of Crater lakes, Mountains like Rwenzori, and other features. Upon arrival in the park, you will have a small game drive as you head to the lodge where you will have lunch and a nature walk where you will be able to see amazing features that can only be found in this park.
Day 4: Morning game drive and boat cruise
After morning breakfast, you will embark on a morning game drive on the savanna plains where you will have amazing encounters with the amazing wildlife species found Queen Elizabeth National Park including lions, hyenas, leopards, buffalo, elephants, hippos, and plenty of elephants. You will later return to the lodge for lunch and after lunch, you will go for a boat cruise on Kazinga Channel where you will be able to see birds, Lakes, and ranges of the Rwenzori Mountains. After the boat cruise, you will transfer back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 5: Transfer to Kampala
On the last day of your safari, you will wake up and have breakfast. You will then check out of the hotel and embark on the journey back to Kampala or Entebbe Airport depending on your schedule.
