8 Days Gorilla Habituation, Wildlife and Adventure safari

The 5 days gorilla habituation experience takes you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will get amazing encounters with unique species in their natural habitat.

Bwindi is home to half of the population of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. Gorilla habituation is a process of training mountain Gorillas to live closer to people as they continue with their day-to-day lives, and this process takes up to 3 or more years.

Queen Elizabeth offers amazing game drives where you get to see tree-climbing lions which can only be found in Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth in Uganda. Game drives are usually conducted in the morning, afternoon, and at night.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

On the first day of your safari, you will be picked up by the driver/guide from either Kampala or Entebbe depending on your location, and begin the journey to Bwindi Impenetrable forest after briefing.  You will have midway stopovers to check out the beautiful countryside and take great photos at the equator crossing. You will blessed with amazing scenery of hills, valleys, cattle, and locals among others as you head to Bwindi. The Gorilla habituation process takes place in the southern sector of Bwindi. You will transfer to your hotel for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.

Day 2:  The Gorilla habituation experience in Bwindi

You will have an early breakfast before heading for briefing at the park offices. While there, you will join other tourists and be informed about what to expect during the gorilla habituation experience. After the briefing, you will start trekking into the forest accompanied by Rangers, Trackers, and Researchers. You will be with the primates for four hours as you learn more about the gorillas.  As you track the gorillas, you will encounter several forest creatures including birds, butterflies, smaller primates and insects. Listen and observe what the researchers are doing. You may be asked to participate in making gorilla calls, gathering samples or naming group members. After spending your four hours with the primates, you will go back to the lodge for rest and relaxation.

Day 3: Batwa Cultural Tour and Lake Bunyonyi

On the third day of your safari you will have breakfast and then proceed to have a cultural encounter where you’ll embark on a profound exploration of the vibrant cultural legacy of the Batwa people who are indigenous inhabitants of this region.

You will get to experience the heritage, customs and way of life of the Batwa people who live in the deep forests. You will get to visit the Garama cave which is nestled in the heart of the forest. It serves as a place of worship and refuge for generations, as you explore the cave you will gain a deeper understanding of the spiritual and cultural aspects of the Batwa people.

After the cultural encounter you will transfer to Lake Bunyonyi where you will experience some of adventurous activities like canoeing, swimming in the Lake, boat cruising, zip lining, high slopes, and many more depending on what you choose to do.

Day 4: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

The journey to Lake Mburo National Park is full of beautiful landscapes, plantations, and farms. You will have an opportunity to visit a culture Museum which exhibits the life of the native people of the area. Enjoy a relaxing meal at Igongo Cultural Center before proceeding to Lake Mburo National Park where you will check in your hotel, relax, and have an overnight stay. Depending on the time of arrival a boat cruise can be done in the afternoon which will enable you to see some animals like crocodiles, hippos, and many more.

Day 5: Morning game drive or nature walk and transfer to Kampala

On the fifth day of your safari you will have a morning game drive or nature walk before heading back to Kampala, you will have close encounters with a wide range of wild species like impalas, zebras, giraffes, warthogs and topi among others. This nature walk is led by an armed ranger who guides you to the part of the park where to find these species. This safari activity lasts up to 3 hours after which you will embark on the journey back to the city. You will have a stopover at the equator where you will have lunch as well as take photos at the equator monument. Proceed to Kampala where you will check in your hotel for rest and overnight stay.

Day 6: Kampala city tour and transfer to Jinja.  

After having breakfast your driver / guide will pick you and you will go for a city tour. You will visit places like Kabaka’s Palace where you will learn about Uganda’s history, Gadaffi mosque, Owino Market where you can buy food, clothes, and electronics, and the craft markets where you can buy craft items and souvenirs. After the city tour you will transfer to Jinja, on the way you’ll stop at Sezibwa Falls, where you’ll get great views of the waterfalls, beautiful scenery, and bird species, among other things. You will proceed to Jinja check in your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: White water rafting and Jinja city tour

After breakfast you will go for white water rafting where you will get a fun experience, you may also participate in other activities such as quad biking, bungee jumping, and horseback riding.

After taking lunch in Jinja, you will go on a city tour where you will visit the king’s palace and learn about Busoga’s history, as well as craft markets where they sell art and craft items, among other things. You will later return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Departure to Kampala or Entebbe

On the final day of your trip you will have breakfast, check out of the hotel, and meet up with your driver/ guide to transfer back to Kampala or Entebbe.
